recently I have been reading about animism, in short religions and belief systems that revolve around spirits living inside non living objects (for example shintoism in Japan) and about how the fungal network basically makes forests into giant slow brains. Maybe living closer to nature, like most civilisations that practice animism do, keeps you more in touch with these real but abstract entities. Recently I cought myself talking to the trees sometimes and when I had tea in the forest I would give the finished leaves to a tree or to a little stream. Artistically I tried to explore these themes only through photography up until now. It was incredibly calming to just bathe in the forest and take photos of it. For quite some time I thought of most crafts as prayer. Even playing a videogame is prayer to me. Watching someone build a tower in just seconds in Fortnite is like a Muslim praying by going on his knees bowing down and standing back up.
